ESK8 Addict - Privacy Policy & GDPR Compliance Statement
Last updated: May 2025
In brief: Any personal data collected as part of placing an order on this website is done so to deliver your order to you, as well as contact you should I need to confirm order details or notify you of any problems. No data is given to, sold to or otherwise shown to any unauthorised third-party. I'm a one-man-band, so I am the only person that has secure access to your data at any given time. The rest of this page outlines the specifics of what data is collected, how it is collected, how it is used and, where applicable, how it is stored.
Thanks, Jonny @ ESK8 Addict.

I’m committed to protecting your privacy. You can travel through most of this website without giving me any personal information about yourself. But sometimes I do need information to provide products and services. This Privacy Policy & GDPR Compliance Statement explains how much of your personal information is collected, how it is processed, used and, where applicable, stored.
SECTION 1 - Website and Email orders:
When you sign-up for a customer account, place an order on this website or email to place an order, I collect the following personal information:
- Your name;
- Your delivery/billing address (home and/or work);
- Your email address;
- Your phone number;
- Your computer or device’s IP address (website orders only).
Your primary contact/delivery information is used to send your order to you. It is securely stored by Shopify Inc., on servers based in different countries (depending on your location) and is secured via multi-stage authentication. Shopify Inc. is GDPR compliant and has a privacy shield between their data processing systems and their own employees, meaning your data is completely safe. The computers and devices I use to process your order(s) are also secured with multi-stage authentication.
When you visit this website and place an order, your IP address is logged by Shopify as part of the built-in, anti-fraud system. A number of factors need to add up, including your IP location, in order for the system to deem your order as legitimate. I may contact you to confirm your order if the anti-fraud system deems it to be fraudulent. I believe this is an important website function, as it helps customers who have been subject to debit/credit card cloning and other types of fraud. Please do not be offended if I contact you to confirm your legitimate order and/or details as, sometimes, the anti-fraud system flags orders where certain variables don't 'add up' and creates an amber warning.
I am the only person who has access to this anti-fraud information, which is accessed securely via multi-stage authentication.
Abandoned Checkout Emails:
If you add items to your cart on this website and get as far as to enter your name and email address, you will receive an abandoned checkout email.
This email is designed to be a gentle reminder that you have considered placing an order, and that the items may still be available for purchase.
This is an automated function of the store’s system. If you do not wish to receive any emails, having not placed an order, there is a ‘tick-box’ you can deselect during the checkout. If you have not deselected this option, your details will be logged and saved on the web store’s system to make any future orders as efficient as possible.
I am the only person that has secure access to your information, through this means, if you commit to placing an order or if you request your details to be deleted, having not placed an order. If you don’t want to place an order, and would like your information deleted, please contact me and I will remove your information as soon as possible.
Cookies:
There are some cookies which are needed for this website to function properly, for example, to remember what items you have put into your cart.
Google Analytics is used to collect information about how you use this website. For example, which areas you use most often, how long you stay on the website or on a specific page, and if you get any error messages from pages being unavailable. These cookies don't collect any of your personal information and all data collected is anonymous. These cookies are used to improve how the website functions, with the aim of making it more enjoyable for you to interact with.
The data generated by the cookie, about your use of this website (including your IP address), will be transmitted to and stored by Google on servers in the United States. Google will use this data for the purpose of evaluating your use of this website. Google may also transfer this data to third parties, where required to do so by law, or where such third parties process the information on Google's behalf.
Google will not associate your IP address with any other data held by Google. You may refuse the use of cookies by selecting the appropriate settings in your browser, however if you do this you may not be able to fully use this website. By using this website, you consent to the processing of data about your usage, by Google, in the manner and for the purposes set out above.

To opt out of being tracked by Google Analytics across all websites, please visit: http://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout
Website Functionality Cookies:
These cookies allow this website to remember choices you make (such as your username or the region you’re in) and provide more personal features. These cookies can also be used to remember changes you have made to text size, fonts and other parts of web pages that you can customise. The information these cookies collect on this website cannot track your browsing activity on other websites.
Targeting & Advertising Cookies:
These cookies are used to deliver adverts more relevant to you and what you search for online. If you search for a product that is stocked on this website, you may see an advert on Google with a link to this website. These specific cookies also limit the number of times you see an advert, and they help me to measure how effective the adverts have been. The cookies are placed by Google’s advertising network with my permission. They remember that you have visited this website and this information is shared with me and Google. These cookies don't collect any of your personal information and all data collected is anonymous.
Other Beacons, Pixels & Parameter Tracking:
Cookies, combined with web beacons/pixels, may be used to count users who have landed on this website after clicking through from a Google or Instagram advert, or when following a link in any marketing emails, to collect details of any orders placed. These web beacons/pixels collect limited information, which does not identify you as an individual. It is not possible to refuse the use of web beacons/pixels. However, because they are used in conjunction with cookies, you can disable them by setting your web browser to restrict or block cookies.
Traffic Data:
This website keeps a record of traffic data, which is logged automatically. This data includes your IP address, computer/device information, the website you were on before you visited this one, and the website you visit after leaving this website.
Website statistics data is also collected, such as page access rates, page hits and page views. You won't be identified as an individual from traffic data or website statistics.
How to disable cookies:
You may be able to configure your web browser or this website, application or service to restrict cookies or block all cookies if you wish. However, if you disable cookies you may find this affects your ability to use certain parts of this website, applications or services. For more information about cookies and instructions on how to adjust your web browser settings to accept, delete or reject cookies, see the www.allaboutcookies.org/ website.
Embedded content from other websites:
Pages on this website may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behave in the exact same way as if you had visited the other website. For example, an embedded YouTube video will gain views and statistics from the person (you) viewing the video on one of my product pages, product-collection pages or blog articles, as it would as if you were visiting YouTube itself.
These external websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with the embedded content, including tracing your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to the website in question.
Payment:
I do not have access to your payment details when using your debit or credit card, during the checkout on this website, when paying for your order.
This web store’s primary payment gateway, ShopPay (operated by Shopify), is a PCI DSS Level 1 service supplier and exceeds industry standard payment security.
For more information on the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS), please visit: https://www.pcisecuritystandards.org/
When paying for an invoice-based order, sent from this web store’s system, payment is made through the secure checkout. This ‘invoice-payment’ method tends to be used if you have already got an account on this website, or if you wish to add products to an existing order that hasn’t been fulfilled.
PayPal Payments:
Using PayPal is an incredibly safe and reliable way of paying for your order. When you pay via PayPal, I will receive your name, verified billing/shipping address, the email address that you’ve linked to your PayPal account as well as your phone number. This information is stored securely inside PayPal, in the form of a transaction archive, as well as in a confirmation email that both you and I will receive.
Your information, given to me by PayPal, is used only to link your order and payment together, so that your order can be sent to you as quickly as possible. PayPal confirmation emails are stored securely in the cloud, accessed only by me, using multi-stage authentication.
Website Security:
This entire website uses the latest in SSL / HTTPS encryption, meaning your connection to every page is fully secure - look for a padlock icon in the URL bar in your web browser.
Shipping / Delivery:
After placing an order with me, your personal information is supplied to my delivery partners, such as Royal Mail. Your information is used to deliver your order to you, as well as to contact you with shipping and delivery notification emails and text messages. Your phone number may be used by delivery companies to contact you should a delivery issue arise.
All of the delivery partners that I use are GDPR compliant as of the 25th May 2018 - the date that General Data Protection Regulation law(s) came into play.
Order History:
Your personal information and order history is securely stored on my web store’s system. If you would like your data to be deleted, please do not hesitate to get in touch and I will fulfil your request as soon as possible.
SECTION 2 - Product Stock Update Notifications:
If a product is out-of-stock on this website, the product page may have the option to let you enter your email address. When I receive new stock, or am able to produce new stock, and the website is updated with inventory, you will automatically receive an email notification, allowing you to visit the website to purchase the product you showed an interest in. This website function also lets me gauge how much interest there is in out-of-stock products, so I can fulfil demand.
The third-party software responsible for this website function, stores your email address for notification purposes only, on servers around the world, based on your location. The software developers have no access to your email address. Your email address is securely accessed by only me, using multi-stage authentication, to carry out product demand analysis.
SECTION 3 - Newsletter Sign-up:
When you sign-up for the ESK8 Addict email newsletter, these are collected:
- Your email address;
- Your first and last names (optional).
This information is securely passed from my web store and is stored in Mailchimp, which is one of the most recognised email publishing apps.
The information you choose to disclose (from the list above) is securely stored on servers based in the United States, which is where Mailchimp is hosted.
Mailchimp does not have access to your personal information - the information you submit via the newsletter sign-up form is accessed only by me, via multi-stage authentication. Your first and last names are optional, so you don’t need to supply this information if you don’t want to.
The Shopify and Mailchimp owners and developers have no access to your information.
What your information is used for:
- Your email address is used to send ESK8 Addict and related news and marketing emails to you.
- Your first and last names, if supplied, are used to personalise emails to you.
- Your email address is also used to gauge how successful the emails were. Mailchimp is securely linked to my web store’s system, using web beacons and/or pixels, allowing purchases to be tracked. This way I’m able to learn more about which products customers actually like to buy, and which products people have no interest in. Over time, this helps me to make my marketing, website and product offerings more enjoyable to interact with.
If you no longer wish to receive ESK8 Addict email newsletters, there is an unsubscribe link at the bottom of every email I send.
SECTION 4 - Email Correspondence:
One of the primary ways present or potential customers can contact me is via the website Contact Page.
When you contact me via the website Contact Page, I will receive:
- Your name;
- Your email address;
- Your phone number;
- The message you send.
Most of this information is optional, but I’ll need your name and email address to reply to and answer what you have contacted me about. My web store’s system processes your message as a whole, and then securely sends it to my cloud-based email service. The email service I use stores all data, securely, on servers based in the United States. All emails are accessed only by me, via multi-stage authentication.
Emails are stored for as long as I deem necessary, so that I can communicate with you and have points of reference if a matter is on-going. If I receive a simple question, for example, I will delete the email after I have sent an answer and is deemed to have been accepted. If you are concerned about any message you have sent, and would like me to check my email system for data removal, please contact me and I’ll do my best to help you and, if needed, delete any email(s) and related information.
All of the above is applicable to messages that I receive using the contact page, or if you reply to any of the order and shipping confirmation/notification emails that you receive from this web store.
Please note: If you reply to any email that is sent to you by a third-party shipping/delivery partner (Royal Mail, for example), I cannot guarantee that I will receive your email response, as the third-party company in question will operate a completely separate email system. For information regarding this, you are advised to visit the website(s) and Privacy Policy pages of the companies in question.
SECTION 5 - Social Media Direct Messaging:
Another way to contact me is through Direct Messaging.
Facebook Direct Messages can be sent via the Facebook page.
All information exchanged during Facebook Direct Messaging stays on-platform and in-app, meaning all of your information is kept secure, private and can only be accessed by me, on computers and devices secured with multi-stage authentication.
Direct Messages sent via Instagram are accessed only by me. As above, all information exchanged during Instagram Direct Messaging stays in-app, meaning all of your information is kept secure, private on devices secured with multi-stage authentication.
SECTION 5.1 - Social Media Mentions:
Sometimes I like to share photos and videos of customers wearing ESK8 Addict clothing, showing off stickers and related content - both in original content form and as ‘reposts’. I’ll also share content featuring products. When I share content relating to customers, no personal information is shared. Only usernames and some third-party company names are mentioned and tagged within the shared media, for the benefit of like-minded riders, as well as present or future customers.
Individuals:
I will always seek permission first before sharing any of the above. If you do not wish to have your photos, videos or anything related shared publicly on Social Media, even after you have agreed for me to do so, please let me know and I will either edit or delete posts entirely if required.
Companies & Brands:
If you are a company, manufacturer or brand and you do not wish media to be shared on ESK8 Addict social media channels, please let me know. I am happy to adhere to Non Disclosure Agreements where needed.
SECTION 6 - Children:
This website and its products and services are not directed at children (anybody under the age of 18). I do not knowingly collect any personal information from children.
If you are a child, please do not attempt to become a registered user of this website or provide me with any personal information.
If I learn that I have inadvertently obtained personal information from a child, I will delete that information.
If you are aware of a child who has provided their personal information to me, either via this website, email or Social Media, please contact me via the Contact page during UK business hours.
SECTION 7 - Data Breach Procedure:
In the extremely unlikely event that I am the subject of a data breach or leak, I am legally obliged to notify those affected within 72-hours.
It is then my legal duty to work with the authorities and security experts in establishing what went wrong and to what extent the breach has affected the parties in question. Once again, due to the extensive security measures that I, all of my web store and email systems suppliers take when dealing with your personal information, it is extremely unlikely that anything like this will happen.
SECTION 8 - Changes to this Privacy Policy & GDPR Compliance Statement Page:
I may change this page from time to time. I’ll post any changes on this page and, if the changes are significant, I will provide a notice on the homepage or by sending you an email. I will also keep prior versions of this Privacy Policy in an archive for your review. I’d like to encourage you to review this page whenever you use my website, contact me, or place an order, to stay informed about how your personal information is handled.
Important: If you disagree with anything on this page, I don’t want to lose you as a customer or potential customer, so please get in touch as I’d like to hear your feedback. But I can, of course, delete any of your information if you have submitted any.
Contact Information: If you have any questions, concerns, or would like to make a complaint about how I use the personal information I hold about you, the fastest way to get in touch is via the Contact page.
If, after speaking to me, you are not satisfied with my response, you can contact the Information Commissioner's Office ( https://ico.org.uk ) who is responsible for handling complaints about the use of personal information.
Thank you for visiting and reading this Privacy Policy and GDPR Compliance Statement,
Jonny @ ESK8 Addict.
